Teaching Tuesdays

You’ve probably noticed by now that the name of our faith family is the New Salem BAPTIST Church. Ever wonder what that “Baptist” part means? You should, because it does have specific meaning in terms of our spiritual beliefs, how we function as a community, and what roles and sacraments we hold important. It’s more than just a denomination, it’s a gang!!! It’s a long-standing faith tradition (one of many), centered around 18 pillars of belief, or “Articles of Faith.” Understanding those Articles helps us better understand what comprises our identity as Baptist Christians, and what gets left out (or at least de-emphasized).

Join us this month as we jump into the first Article of Faith: The Scriptures. During these three weeks we will examine the role of Scripture in the Baptist tradition, as well as clarify for ourselves what we believe about the Scriptures and their role in our respective faith journeys.  By the end of the session, participants will be asked to craft their own faith statement about the role of the Scriptures in their faith walk.

Join us on Tuesday, August 9th at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom.
